Ingredients

SERVINGS: 4-6 (USING ½ JAR) OR 8-12 (USING 1 JAR)

Prepared fondue (see 3 recipes below)
Pieces of fresh fruit (banana, strawberry, kiwi, pear, pineapple, ground cherries, etc.)
Cubes of white cake, sponge cake or pound cake (optional)

Option 1: Dark chocolate honey caramel fondue

½ jar or 60 ml (¼ cup) of dark chocolate honey caramel
2.5 ml (½ tsp) of bourbon (ex: Jack Daniel’s whiskey)

or

1 jar (160 g) of dark chocolate honey caramel
5 ml (1 tsp) of bourbon (ex: Jack Daniel’s whiskey)

Option 2: Cranberry maple spread fondue

½ jar or 60 ml (¼ cup) of cranberry maple spread
5 ml (1 tsp) of 35% cream
0.25 ml (1/16 tsp) of ground cinnamon, or more to taste

or

1 jar (150 g) of cranberry maple spread
10 ml (2 tsp) of 35% cream
0.5 ml (1/8 tsp) of ground cinnamon, or more to taste

Option 3: Maple spread and vanilla fondue 

½ jar or 60 ml (¼ cup) of 100% pure organic maple spread
5 ml (1 tsp) of coconut milk or 35% cream
1 ml (¼ tsp) of vanilla extract
A few drops of rum (optional)

or

1 jar (158 g) of 100% pure organic maple spread
10 ml (2 tsp) of coconut milk or 35% cream
2 ml (½ tsp) of vanilla extract
A few drops of rum (optional)

 

Directions

  1. Unroll a long strip of parchment paper down the middle of the table. Scatter the pieces of fruit and the cubes of cake on the parchment paper.
  2. Prepare one of the three fondue recipes (see above).
  3. Using a spoon, decorate the fruit and cake by drawing arabesques with the fondue.

    Variation
    These fondues can also be served as dips. To do so, pour the fondue into small serving bowls and serve with pieces of fresh fruit and cubes of cake.

    Recipe 1: Dark chocolate honey caramel fondue
    *Using ½ jar (80 g) of caramel
    1. Pour the caramel in a microwave safe bowl and warm in the microwave oven for about 10 seconds on maximum intensity, until the texture becomes smooth and flowing.
    2. Incorporate the bourbon and let sit for 5 minutes.

    *Using 1 jar (160 g) of caramel
    1. Warm the jar in the microwave oven (without the lid) for 15 seconds on maximum intensity. Stir and return to microwave oven for 10 seconds, until a flowing consistency is reached.
    2. Incorporate the bourbon and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

    Recipe 2: Cranberry maple spread fondue
    *Using 60 ml of cranberry maple spread
    1. Pour the maple spread into a microwave safe bowl. Mix well and warm for about 10 seconds, until a flowing consistency is reached.
    2. Incorporate the cream and the cinnamon.

    *Using a 150 g jar of cranberry maple spread
    1. Pour the maple spread into a microwave safe bowl and warm for about 10 seconds. Mix well and warm for 5 to 10 seconds or until a flowing consistency is reached.
    2. Incorporate the cream and the cinnamon.

    Recipe 3: Maple spread and vanilla fondue
    *Using 60 ml of 100% pure organic maple spread
    1. Pour the maple spread in a microwave safe bowl. Mix well and warm for about 10 seconds, until a flowing consistency is reached.
    2. Incorporate the coconut milk and the vanilla. Add rum if desired.

    *Using a 158 g jar of 100% pure organic maple spread
    1. Pour the maple spread into a microwave safe bowl and warm for about 10 seconds. Mix well and warm for 5 to 10 seconds or until a flowing consistency is reached.
    2. Incorporate the coconut milk and the vanilla. Add rum if desired.
