August 1, 2016 Citadelle receive the Selection Award at SIAL Innovation Paris 2016
The cooperative shines on the international scene with its Whole Sweetened Dried Cranberries to secure a place in final
Citadelle, Maple Syrup Producers’ Cooperative is the proud recipient of the Selection Award at SIAL Innovation Paris 2016, awarded to one of its innovative new products: Whole Sweetened Dried Cranberries. Selected by an independent jury of experts, these delicious dried cranberries were outstanding in the category of mass consumption products, noted for the innovative dehydration process resulting in their more tender texture.
“We’re delighted to have received this year’s Selection Award,” declared Martin Plante, Citadelle’s Chief Executive Officer. “Innovation is one of our key values at Citadelle, and our entire team constantly strives to create new, authentic and tasty products. To be recognized on the international food scene is extremely gratifying for our coop,” he added.
With four SIAL Canada awards already to the company’s credit, Citadelle now finds itself standing as a Grand Prix finalist at SIAL Paris 2016. With its Inü brand product, it will challenge great number of innovative products from around the world for the final Grand Prix 2016 honour. The winner will be announced this coming September, a few days prior to the SIAL event in Paris.
A dehydration process unique in the world
Offered under the Inü brand and other brands of the cooperative, and sold in bulk and under private labels, Whole Sweetened Dried Cranberries are the result of an exclusive dehydration process. Harvested at full maturity, cranberries are then soaked in a unique sweetened solution before being thoroughly dried. This process ensures that each cranberry remains tender and juicy, locking-in both fullness of flavour and goodness. Free of stabilisers, dyes or glycerin, Whole Sweetened Dried Cranberries are available in convenient resealable bags at market prices.
Since 2010, Citadelle has grown to establish itself as one of the country’s three largest cranberry processors, and the only cranberry cooperative in Canada. With the building of its new 55,000-sq.ft plant in Quebec, Citadelle continues to invest in innovation. Here, millions of pounds of cranberries can be processed yearly, as well as manufacturing of a host of other products that include whole sweetened dried cranberries infused in apple juice, 100% pure pasteurized juice, maple pickled cranberries, dried mixed fruit with maple sugar nuggets, etc.
